Afghan Refugees Solidarity Association (ARSA), with the support of the German Cooperation Agency, organized a Nature and Historical Site Walk event in Soğanlı Valley on World Refugee Day, June 20th. World Refugee Day is celebrated annually on June 20th by the United Nations to honour refugees worldwide. It was first established on June 20th, 2001, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1951 Refugee Convention.
ARSA takes pride in being a part of this celebration to acknowledge the strength and courage of individuals who are forced to leave their countries due to war, conflict, or persecution, and to develop empathy towards their situation and appreciate their resilience and determination to rebuild their lives. The event began with a guided exploration of the natural and historical beauty of Soğanlı Valley, followed by a meal provided to the participants.
This event was held within the scope of a project called "Improving Community-based Social Services for Refugees and Vulnerable Residents of Host Communities in Türkiye (CLIP 2)” which is co-funded by the European Union through its Humanitarian Aid Operations Department (ECHO) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
